The Ukrainian Center of Assistance to International Protection (“CPI-Ukraine”), registered in Ukraine in July 2014, is an affiliate of the Centre de la Protection Internationale (“CPI”).    Bringing together leading human rights experts, lawyers and advocates, CPI-Ukraine works hand in hand with other human rights NGOs both in Ukraine and abroad.  CPI-Ukraine focuses on bringing Ukrainian cases to international bodies (such as the European Court of Human Rights and UN Human Rights Committee), as well as advocating for the implementation of the decisions issued by such bodies in respect of Ukraine.
The organization’s projects are carried out in cooperation with lawyers practicing in Ukraine. This network of lawyers has emerged as a result of educational programs conducted by CPI for 11 years.  During that period, the trainees of these programs included more than 60 lawyers from all over Ukraine. Many of them subsequently expressed interest in and   commitment to working with CPI and CPI-Ukraine both in Ukraine and in Strasbourg.
CPI-Ukraine directly represents numerous applicants before the European Court of Human Rights, and has been successful in having its cases communicated by the Court to the Ukrainian government and thus going on to consideration on merits, as well as winning judgments favorable to its clients.
In addition to providing direct representation to victims of human rights violations in Ukraine, CPI-Ukraine’s experts offer consultations to individuals and/or their lawyers on   drafting applications to international human rights bodies and litigating the cases before them.
