CPI Armenian Centre (hereinafter “CPI-Armenia”) is an affiliate of the Centre de la protection internationale.  CPI-Armenia’s mission is to promote human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in the Republic of Armenia.  CPI-Armenia pursues this mission by means of counseling and representing victims of human rights abuses in domestic courts and international adjudicatory, advocating for the enforcement of judgments favorable to the victims in such cases, contributing to the development of Armenian legislation, protecting of human rights and strengthening Armenia’s compliance with international human rights standards and mechanisms, and conducting public education on the values to which CPI-Armenia is dedicated. CPI-Armenia’s main activity is strategic litigation, and particularly bringing or intervening in cases in the European Court of Human Rights.  Such cases arise out of violations of a broad range of human rights, including the right to life, fair trial, liberty and personal security, freedom of assembly and expression, freedom of movement, right to enjoyment of property and right to free elections.  CPI-Armenia prioritizes cases involving violations of  human rights that are systemic in character and sensitive  for the society.
In addition, CPI-Armenia conducts trainings for practicing lawyers and senior law school students in Armenia on substantive and procedural international human rights law and practical skills for litigating cases in the European Court of Human Rights and other international human rights bodies. CPI-Armenia also provides practicing lawyers undertaking human rights cases pro bono consultations and assistance in preparing applications and other submissions to to the European Court of Human Rights.
As part of its public education mission, CPI-Armenia offers programs designed to raise the awareness of human rights among young people in Armenia, such as classes conducted in Yerevan secondary schools
